My Background

Some of you might remember me from my own (currently hibernating) blog, serieAmerica, or from my comments and/or posts on Chris’ AS Roma blog here on The Offside.

Basically, I am just an average guy of Italian-American ancestry who happens to love calcio. You’ll note that I said calcio. Not football, not futbol, not soccer. CALCIO.

I live just a stone’s throw from NYC, I work a nine-to-five in an office, and I’m in grad school (again). I am also a self-professed pizza elitist, as I refuse to eat pizza from any chain or any pizzeria outside of the Metro NY area… because ours is (obviously) superior.

My Allegiance

For me, it’s the Azzurri above all else, followed by the Giallorossi and the Zebrette, in that order… although if we were to use my family’s ancestral home as an indicator of the club that should be second only to country in my heart, I should really be writing for the Potenza blog. Unfortunately however, there is no Potenza blog, since the Leoni are hanging out in Serie C. That of course, leaves me to cover Udinese – the giant killers of Serie A… a team that *at the moment* epitomizes all that is good about calcio on the peninsula.
