Goal of The Friggin’ Year
By: vin | February 1st, 2009-
Napoli 2 – 2 Udinese
Lavezzi 24 (N), Hamsik 27 (N), Di Natale pen 32 (U), Quagliarella 45 (U)
First off, yes, I found videos of *just* the goal, but the commentary wasn’t in Italian on those, so I’m not posting any of them. Instead, I posted the video above, which shows the full match highlights, but with Italian commentary (because everything sounds better in Italian). Just advance it to the 1 min., 25 sec. mark to see the strike that everyone’s talking about. I’ve read that the crowd at San Paolo actually applauded the goal, which is impressive (and speaks well of Napoli tifosi)… although half of it was probably because Quags is from the Napoli area. Regadless, that’s some Jedi sh!t from Quagliarella. The force is strong with this one.
I realize that Udinese didn’t win, but wasn’t it great to see that they fought back? The fact that they didn’t just roll over shows that they’ve rediscovered some of their determination following the win against Juventus.
Now… the real test comes next week, as Bologna visit Friuli. If you’re wondering why I’m calling Bologna “the real test,” consider the fact that Udinese recently came up big against a great squad, and fought back to draw a very good one. Bologna however, present an enirely different type of challenge – one where complacency is the true opponent. And let me tell you something – in calcio, I’ll face off against Inter/Juve/Roma/Milan over complacency any day.
Forza Udinese!

i agree with you, Bologna match will be the real test, the result of draw in Sao Paulo as a victory, especially after the loss of two goals… Yesterday was the birthday of Quagliarella and what a celebration but fabio will not playing Bologna match after 4 cards .. and Damiano Ferronetti too ..

Quags’ goal was ridiculous; the best part was the keeper’s reaction (or lack thereof). I’m tryna to remember other great goals for the season so far and tryna gauge whether this would be goal of the season! That would be what, 3 years in a row for Quags?

Decent game today…
Does this mean I was wrong to write off our chances for UEFA Cup qualification next year?

Fuck! Quagliarella is the MAN

i have a question about sanchez; he is only a substitute player or he is after a injury?? i know nothing about him but i like the way he play against bologna.

-

Sanchez is not really just a substitute. The coach rotates the entire Udinese attack, so all of them get to play, but Quagliarella and Di Natale play the most, when they are healthy.
Sanchez is good though. I think they call him “Wonder Kid” or “Wonder Boy” or something like that.

Hello everybody! Good luck to all of us tomorrow against Siena. Let’s hope the tide is turning after “El Chileno!” bounced in the perhaps lucky, but beautiful winner last weekend. Any of you know where to live stream the match? I saw that bwin was a possibility, but to be honest, on their tiny screen is very difficult to see which team scores. Quagliarella – the volley wonder boy – forever!
